The flagship sedan will also get some new technology.
Nissan will travel to Los Angeles in its refreshed flagship. Today, the automaker revealed that the Maxima will go on display at the Los Angeles Auto Show in full. We also get a glimpse at the changes coming to the large sedan. glimpse is a reference to the complete monte, as seen from the front. The above photo is a teaser by Nissan.
Although the changes are not revolutionary, we knew that they would not be based upon spy images we had seen back in March. The primary visual differences are in the front and rear fascias. The front received new driving lamps that were similar to the Altima. The grille design has been slightly altered to add a little more flare at the bottom. Although Nissan isn’t showing the backside of the car, we can see some changes to the lower part of the rear fascia in spy photos. This will allow for quad exhaust tips. There are some minor changes to the taillights.
We don’t know if there are any design changes, but Nissan says that the car will be equipped with Safety Shield 360 technology. It includes common safety features like blind-spot monitor, cross-traffic alert and intelligent cruise control with radar. This system also helps drivers park. Sensors on the vehicle will notify a driver who is groggy if it detects unusual steering inputs. Except for something unique from Nissan, the Maxima does not have active driver assistance systems such as emergency brake or steering input.
The Maxima’s current powertrain is the 3.5-liter V6 rated to 300 horsepower. Nissan won’t make any changes. Only a CVT delivers power to the front wheels.
As we near the LA Auto Show which opens in the last week November, look out for more information about the new Maxima.
