A new coat of paint and a few blacked-out badges later, the Canadians now have a special Sport edition.

Although Ram unveiled its 2019 1500 pickup at the Detroit Auto Show in January, it has already begun to roll out a number of special edition models. The Lone Star Edition pickup that we saw earlier this week has been joined by a Sport model. Unfortunately, this truck will not be available in the States.

The Canadian-exclusive Sport trim will have a few visual cues that set it apart from the standard model. A monochromatic exterior finish is the truck’s most distinctive feature. It comes in nine colors. Accentuated by a new billet bar grille in black, with a Ram logo and black internal bezels for the bi-LED headlights, this new finish looks great.

A set of 20-inch black aluminum wheels is standard equipment on the 2019 Ram 1500 Sport. A 22-inch “Black Noise” set is also available to buyers. This option is only available on 4×4 models. The tailgate is accented with aluminum accents and black badges.

The cabin features the same styling elements. The cabin features an all-black finish with satin light chrome highlights and real metal trim. It also has a Rebel-inspired diamond-plate-look center stack. The 8.4-inch Uconnect screen, which is standard on the Sport model, is another highlight. You can choose between a quad or crew-cab Ram 1500 Sport.

The horsepower has not changed. Under the hood is the same 5.7-liter Hemi Hemi V8, which delivers 395 horsepower (294 Kilowatts) as well as 410 pound-feet (551 Newton-meters). The eight-speed automatic transmission combines all that power with eight speeds. You can choose between a 4×2 and 4×4 Ram 1500 Sport. The on-demand transfer case operates in Auto, 2HI or 4HI settings, as well as 4LO and 4LO for your off-road needs.

Ram does not say how much the Sport trim will cost, but it says it will be available for purchase in the second quarter 2018. The pricing and fuel economy of the new Sport trim will be revealed closer to when it goes on sale.
