The wagon’s generous wheelbase provides the best in-class legroom.
Toyota will be saying goodbye to its Auris Touring Sports model to make way for its new model, the Corolla. This model will be sold in Europe just like the five-door hatchback. The Japanese marque wants to emphasize that the new Corolla Touring Sports model is distinct from its predecessor, which was essentially a wagon-ized hatchback.
The trunk’s cargo capacity reflects the fact that it was designed from the beginning to be a wagon. The trunk’s cargo capacity has increased from 507 liters in the Auris to a huge 598 liters in the Corolla Touring Sport. Despite this significant growth, it is still slightly lower than the 605 liters of the Volkswagen Golf Variant’s and the 610 liters in the Skoda Octavia Combi.
The Corolla wagon has an advantage. It offers the best rear legroom in its class thanks to its massive wheelbase of 2700 mm. This is even more than the Octavia’s. The new Corolla Touring Sports, which includes a MacPherson Strut front suspension, multi-link rear suspension and optionally an adaptive variable suspension, is a compelling choice for families looking for a small wagon.
The 1.2-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with 114 horsepower is all that’s available. The 1.8-liter produces 120 hp, and the 2.0-liter makes 178 hp. Toyota will gradually but surely retire diesel engines from passenger cars in Europe if there are any people interested in diesel.
If you have the funds to spare, there are many toys that will fit into your Corolla Touring Sports. Toyota offers a head-up display and wireless smartphone charging as well as a JBL sound system. There are four options for exterior paint, but the primary shade is black for the roof, lower grille surround and pillars.
The brand new Corolla Touring Sports will be on display at the Paris Motor Show next year.
