It’s not cheap to get two inches more clearance.
Driving a supercar requires that you don’t scrape your nose on any slight inclines. This applies to any low-slung vehicle, but mid-engine cars like the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette stand out. The C8’s nose-lifting option makes it a highly sought-after add-on and the company appears keen to take advantage of it.
According to GM Authority, the C8’s Front Lift Suspension option may cost $500 more in 2021. The option costs $1,495 for 2020 Corvettes, but it will cost $1,995 next. Hydraulics are used to raise the nose of the ‘Vette by two inches when it is traveling below 24 mph. The 33 percent price rise could be due to system changes, but there is no mention.
It is not yet known if the feature will be available on the 1LT Stingray base model in 2021. Front Lift Suspension is available only for 2LT and 3LT models. The 2LT trim starts at $67,295 inclusive of destination fees. The cheapest 2020 Corvette with front-lift is $68,790.
Unfortunately, buyers can’t order 2020 Corvettes with the cheaper front-lift option without an order. The 2019 UAW strike delayed production, and then the coronavirus caused the entire automotive industry to be shut down for several weeks until the spring 2020. Technically, Corvette production did not stop. However, parts shortages caused C8 assembly to be virtually halted for several weeks through the spring 2020. 2020 production is extended to November, and then 2021 production will start.
We reported in June that Chevrolet Corvette Chief Engineer Tadge Jurechter stated that the base price of the 2021 C8 will remain below the $60,000 threshold. It will be interesting to see if the latest front-lift price rise is accurate.
