New spy footage captures the V8’s roar.

Ford’s next-generation F-150 pickup was introduced last summer. It will be available for 2021 model years. The hotter F150 Raptor was not mentioned in that announcement. While rumors continue about the powertrain configuration, spy photos have confirmed that it is currently in development. We won’t have much to speculate about as Ford has confirmed to motor1.com the Raptor will debut on February 3.

Rumours continue to swirl around about the motivation for the off-road pickup. Ford currently offers the Raptor with the twin-turbocharged, 3.5-liter V6 that produces 450 horsepower (335 Kilowatts) 510 pound-feet (691 Nms) of torque. However, the Raptor is now facing a Ram competitor in the form the 702-hp (523 kW) Ram TRX. The next-generation Raptor has a distinctive V8-sounding exhaust note. However, we don’t know the mill. Rumours suggest that Ford’s supercharged, 5.2-liter engine from the Mustang Shelby GT500 is making its way into the Raptor. It produces 760 horsepower (566 kW) on the horse, but it could produce less power in the dino.

Roush spotted the truck and helped Ford create the GT500. Rumours claim the mill will produce between 725-750 horsepower (540-559 kW). For the first time in ten years, Raptor has a real rival. With its powerful engine and rugged appearance, the Ram TRX is hot. The powertrain is a big improvement on the current Raptor, although we would be lying to say that we are excited to see where this off-road beast goes. It is likely to only mean wins for the consumer.
