The Volvo engine powering it is 2 Volvo engines, totaling 868 horsepower.
Etienne Salome, a Bugatti designer, is launching a new luxury boat business called Salome Yachts. The Atlantic is his first watercraft. It takes its inspiration from the famous coupe of the French sports car manufacturer Bugatti. It’s less expensive than a new Chiron at EUR1.6 million.
The Atlantic’s smooth design evokes classic Bugatti cars with its teardrop-shaped shape. The hull is flow-through and features two upright sections with a deck between them. According to the company, this allows air to flow through the boat at high speeds and provides greater stability. Salome Yachts claims this design is inspired by the aerodynamics of Formula One cars.
The Atlantic is 39.37 feet (12 m) long and can accommodate nine people. There’s a 14-speaker stereo and 2 subwoofers for entertainment.
A pair of Volvo Penta D6-440 Stern-Drive Duoprop Engines with a combined total of 868 horsepower (647 Kilowatts) should provide more than enough power. They have a fuel tank of 158.5 gallons (600 liters) to keep them going. According to the company, their top speed is between 55 and 60 knots (63-69 miles per hour).
Garmin’s glass cockpit is included in the controls. Customers can also add optional self-docking technology as an option.
Salome Yachts plans to produce 12 units of the Atlantic in its initial production run. Clients can customize the cabin according to their wishes. Deliveries will begin in 2020.
Etienne Salome has previously worked as a yacht designer on the Bugatti Niniette (above). It measures 66 feet in length (20.12 meters) and is significantly larger than the Atlantic. You can choose from 1,000 or 1,200 horsepower (746 kW or 850 kW), which allows the boat to reach 44 knots (51 miles).
