The Cannonball Run Remake is Close to Getting Green Light

The Cannonball Run was inspired in part by the Cannonball Baker Sea-To-Shining-Sea Memorial Trophy Dash, an illegal cross-country road race that took place in the 1970s. The idea was conceived by Car and Driver editors Brock Yates and Steve Smith.

It is easy to see how a modern version of The Cannonball Run might look. We can imagine Dwayne Johnson and Channing Tatum as the actors. Charlize Theron would be the comedians. The originals would be replaced by current Ferraris, Lamborghinis and Aston Martins. To add some spice, a Dodge Challenger SRT Demon might also be added. The film is almost a movie in itself, with some wild hijinks and fast action.

The entertainment industry in the future might be very similar to the 1980s. A possible reboot of The Cannonball Run is also in production. Tom Cruise is filming a Top Gun sequel and Magnum P.I. will be returning to TVs this fall.
