It will be sold in Brazil.
Jeep will introduce a new model made in Brazil this year. The model is positioned above the Compass. Although the name of the model has not been confirmed, a teaser shows that it may be Commander. Rumours had previously been circulating about the name Patriot. However, the teaser suggests that it is not.
The new Jeep seven seater SUV was seen frequently in Brazil in heavy camouflage even by Motor1 Brazil staffers in Sao Paulo. It’s not just a Compass with more seats. The front is curvier, the grille is more detailed and straighter, and the headlights have unique parts. Jeep already confirmed that the engine options are the 1.3-liter turbo or the 2.0-liter Turbodiesel. This one has more power than the one in use today.
The video clearly shows Commander at the end of the name, which indicates the last two letters. A closer look reveals a shadow of a letter that is almost certain to be a D. The name Grand Commander is also used in China and would work well with the new Brazilian SUV. It is also important to note that the Commander moniker was previously used as a three-row Grand-Cherokee-based SUV in the middle-to-late 2000s.
Jeep also stated that the new SUV would be the most advanced model produced in Brazil. You can expect adaptive cruise control, blind-spot detection, automatic emergency brake, and the Jeep multimedia system with 4G connectivity, onboard Wi-Fi, and wireless smartphone mirroring via Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. The platform will be shared under the floor with the Renegade, Compass, and with modifications for the third column, which will be hidden beneath the floor when not being used.
