The Corvette's Mid-Engine Design Sketches from the Early Years Show a Different Vehicle

The C8 Corvette could have looked very different from the final product. These are just a few of the possibilities.

The 2020 Chevrolet Corvette was created over a long time by many designers and artists. There were probably many ideas that were explored in the beginning, which may have led to a very different product than the final product.

Here is an image that shows multiple design options for a 2020 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1. This image was found on a Facebook group that is frequented by car designers and artists. We believe it to be a genuine design study that was created by a GM designer years ago. We are not able to reveal more about the identity of the designer beyond that.

The Corvette's Mid-Engine Design Sketches from the Early Years Show a Different Vehicle

The image shows eight possible designs for a mid-engine Corvette. It’s striking that none of these ideas look anything like the production C8 Corvette, which debuted last week. There were many, if not hundreds of such design explorations during the early years of development of the mid-engine Corvette. We would love to see the prototype that became the production car. Also, we’d like to see how it changed over time. This is what we have for now. The right-most red design would be our pick if we had to choose our favorite design study from this image. Which one do you prefer?
