Evidently, the next one will have the V16 engine Devel promised.
The Devel Sixteen is now in production. The long journey of the legendary 16-cylinder hypercar has come to an end, as shown in the video above. This is the real deal. It was built specifically for one customer and is currently in final tuning. It only has eight cylinders. It is now the Devel Eight.
Supercar Blondie was able to see it, but before blaming the Devel Sixteen for not living up its name, please read this article and view the video. You’ll find out that the first car’s customer didn’t want the V16. It is possible that the buyer would have issues with a car with 16-cylinders. This is all we have to go on. If anyone knows of a place in the world that you cannot own a Bugatti then perhaps this could be a clue as to where the Devel is heading.
This means that the Devel Sixteen does not have the 5,000 horsepower (3.728 kilowatts), which was promised in its original announcement nearly 10 years ago. A custom-built twin-turbocharged V8 will provide 2,000 horsepower under the engine cover. Although we don’t know much about the engine, it sounds great. The engine is also still being tuned, so the 2,000-hp benchmark may not have been reached yet.
Production car number 2 will, however, pack a 5,000-hp V16. This power number is actually down to 3,000 horsepower (2,237kW), which is still absurd for a road car. We know that the V16 exists because we have seen it in action before. The V8 model is the first to use it. It has a top speed of 249 MPH (400 Km/h). Even with half the number of cylinders, it is not slow.
It is difficult to bring a new vehicle on the market, even one as revolutionary as this, but I have to give credit where credit is due. The Devel Sixteen measures 17 feet in length, weighs 5,000 lbs, and looks nothing like any other vehicle on the road. The outside is beautiful, but inside, you will find many components from the C8 Corvette. But, it runs and drives like a beast. This is a lot more than most startups, so we hope to see a V16 model.
