It appears to already have a codename: “G09”
Maximize the BMW X7 configurator to get a xDrive50iM Sport that costs $122,425. But if you have the cash, a Bavaria-based SUV is rumored to be on the horizon. There have been reports about an X8 in the pipeline for a while. Now, undisclosed sources close BMW’s agenda have informed our friends at BMW blog more information about a new flagship SUV.
The full-size luxury barge, codenamed G09 by some, won’t look like a coupe-bodied X7 as some may have been led to believe. BMW is instead planning to release an even more extravagant SUV to fill the gap between the X7 or the Rolls-Royce Cullinan. According to reports, the luxurious high-riding model will only have four seats and offer individual rear ones for maximum comfort. Other interior configurations for the X8 are not yet known.
BMW Blog reports that the roofline of the X7 will be modified, but it will not slope towards the rear as it is with the smaller X6 or X4. This means that there should be plenty of headroom for passengers and the trunk should be larger than the X6 and X4.
According to the report, the X8 “most likely will become the priciest BMW roundel-equipped car,” which is very interesting. This is why? Bavarians already own several models that are more expensive than the X7. It will be more expensive than the electrified droptop but it’ll still be a bargain compared to the Rolls Royce Cullinan with its staggering starting price of $325,000.
