This is a Top Gear episode. It’s great.
The boys are back, older but not necessarily wiser. The boys are heading to France to see some domestic cars. They are known for being the most quirky in the business. The trailer sends out Top Gear vibes with its “flying Citroen C3 Pluriel” and features a lot destruction, including dropping a 2CV and abusing a poor Renault Scenic.
“Carnage a Trois,” which features a variety of old hot hatchbacks – including a Citroen Berlingo thrown off a cliff, seems to be more focused on cars than any other The Grand Tour special. If you’re curious about the strange contraption that appears at the 0/28, it is the Leyat Helica (aka “The Plane without Wings”).
We get the impression that one of the featured cars in the special is a beautiful Citroen SM. This car is hands down the most fascinating ever produced by the company with its double chevron logo. It seems that Richard Hammond, James May, Jeremy Clarkson and James May are destroying a BMW 5 Series Touring, which was built from the E61 generation. It’s not a French car so we are curious to learn the reason behind the explosion.
The boys visit the beautiful country and then head to the town. There, the “Hamster”, who isn’t exactly careful when parking his Scenic minivan, makes an appearance. Clarkson admits he loves the SM and would love to own one. Clarkson also likes the unusually-designed sports coupe from the 1970s.
Amazon Prime will have “The Grand Tour Presents Carnage A Trois” available on December 17.
