The Kia EV9 Concept is Debut With a Sharp-Edged Body and Stylish Cabin

This previews a future production vehicle.

As a preview of the next EV, the Kia EV9 Concept will be shown at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The exterior is strikingly angular, but the interior has soft curves and is minimalist.

Kia claims that the exterior design is inspired by the shapes of rocks and crystals. It doesn’t require a traditional grille opening because it is an electric vehicle. Instead, the nose is covered with a body-colored strip. These lights aren’t visible when they aren’t in use. When the driver approaches, a series of patterns of illumination greets him. There are also vertical daytime running lamps at the outer edges. A vent is located near the base on the windshield. The opening doesn’t need to be vented as there is no engine. Kia has installed a solar panel on the EV9 to charge the batteries a bit when they aren’t plugged in.

To improve aerodynamics, they can be moved into the roof. To make the vehicle more sleek, cameras replace the sideview mirrors. For the D-pillars, the rear is triangular. There are also Y-shaped taillights. One of the few sections that are rounded in the rear hatchback’s lower section is the one on the left.
