The Lexus Electrified SUV looks sleeker from more angles in new photos

It could be positioned above the RZ 450e Lexus model.

Just before 2021, Lexus and Toyota teased their electrified futures. Although neither brand gave much information on their future vehicles, they did reveal a range of prototypes that cover most market segments. The future electrified Lexus is quite bright, with wagons and a convertible in the plans and a hypercar, but the company will make its bread with SUVs and crossovers.

The Lexus RZ 450e will debut this year. But it won’t the only electrified SUV. Lexus has published two more photos of an upcoming battery electric SUV. It looks to be somewhere above the RZ450e in its hierarchy. Although it is difficult to identify its exact size, it looks similar to the other seven Lexus vehicles teased in December. Although it appears larger than the RZ450e, it may not be the SUV model.

The new spindle grille is the same as on previous Lexus electric prototypes. The most recent photos show a profile and a three-quarter view from the rear of this massive SUV. While the front looks familiar, the rear isn’t as busy. The rear bumper has vent creases and the taillight bar extends over the tires and around the rear fenders. Although it’s a very attractive SUV, the design could be modified if it goes into production.

Toyota and Lexus plan to sell 30 EVs before the end of the decade. This is a big goal for a pair of brands that are just starting their BEV journeys. The RZ 450e, which Lexus plans to launch sometime in the year, will be its first EV. It shares the Toyota HTML4x and Subaru Solterra as its foundations. However, it is not clear if this platform will be used to underpin other Lexus electric vehicles, such as the large SUV shown in the photos. This is likely to be true.
