Shogun Sport Commercial opts for trunk space over back seats

Mitsubishi launched the Shogun Sport SUV in the United Kingdom, a version that is more appealing to business and tradespeople.

Shogun Sport Commercial is the name of the rugged 4×4 and is imaginatively called the Shogun Sport Commercial. It looks very similar to the SUV it is based on, but it has blacked out side windows and eliminates five seats to make a flat-bottomed load area.

The load bay is more than 1.9m (6.2 feet) long, and the distance between the rear wheel arches is exactly one meter (3.3feet). It measures 1.04 meters (3.4ft) from floor to ceiling. This gives you a total volume of 1,488 Liters (52.5 cubic feet) if you use German Automobile Industry Association measurement. It’s not surprising that this is exactly what you would get from a regular Shogun Sport with its rear seats folded down.

Also known as the Pajero Sport

The Commercial looks almost identical from the driver’s seat to its passenger-carrying counterpart. This new model is based on the “4” range-topping version. It features a touchscreen multimedia system that includes the Apple CarPlay, Android Auto smartphone connectivity systems, push-button start, heated seats, and a 360-degree camera to give you a top-down look at the car and surroundings. The new model also features a 510-watt sound system, USB charging connectors, and a three-pin socket in the center console.

It will look just like the Shogun Sport 4, thanks to its black window coverings, 18-inch alloy wheels, and black windows. The same safety kit is included, including autonomous emergency brake to prevent or mitigate a crash, and blind-spot monitoring that warns you if a vehicle lurks in your blind spot.

Both the Shogun Sport sibling and its Commercial sibling, the Shogun Commercial, share many similarities with Mitsubishi’s L200 pickup truck. This includes the rugged ladder chassis and the 178-hp, 2.4-liter turbocharged Diesel engine. The Shogun Sport Commercial can haul trailers up to 3.1 tonnes (6,200 lb) and more than 600 kg (1.322 lb) in its trunk.

This supermini can also be used as a van

It can go from a standstill at 62 mph to 100 kph in 11 seconds, and then hit a top speed just over 112 mph. Mitsubishi claims that its 2.1-ton (4.200-pound) vehicle will return around 32.8 mpg UK (or 27.3 mpg US) or 8.6 Liters / 100 km.

The standard Shogun Sport off-road capabilities are also preserved in this model, including low-ratio gearing and lockable rear and centre differentials, as well as hill descent control. The car also features Mitsubishi’s Super Select II 4WD system. This allows the driver to select settings by using a terrain selector. This allows the car to be driven on gravel, mud/snow or rocks.

The Shogun Sport Commercial Version inherits some of its price. It starts at PS32,504 plus VAT.
