Automakers often update their online configurators when there is a major auto show to showcase the new products. Porsche’s 2020 911 configurator has been up and running, while BMW is now doing the same with the 2019 HTML7. Bavaria’s late answer to Mercedes GLS is the base xDrive40i, which starts at $73,900 plus $995 for destination & taxes. You can easily surpass $100,000 if you have the money.
The starting price for the beefier xDrive50i will jump to $92,600. You might also like the M Sport version, which is pictured here. It will cost $96,150. Black Sapphire Metallic paint is an option that’s free, while 22-inch two-tone wheels with flat tires and runflat tires will set you back $1,300.
This is all you need to do for exterior upgrades. However, the interior is where you can really increase the price by adding many extras. The Ivory White/Night Blue Leather Merino upholstery costs $3,700 and you will need to choose the leather-wrapped dashboard ($1,200). The piano black trim will cost $1,080, while BMW will charge $1,080 to get the shiny finish on the dashboard and center console.
There are also packages available, such as the Cold Weather Package ($1,200), which includes five-zone automatic climate control, heated front and back seats, armrests, heated steering wheel, and front and rear heated seat. Those looking for a sportier driving experience can pick the pricey Dynamic Handling Package ($4,750) adding an M Sport differential, all-wheel steering, Active Comfort Drive electromechanically-operated stabilization system, and M Sport brakes.
Luxury Seating Package ($1,200) includes ventilated and massaging front seats. The Premium Package (1,550), on the other hand, will include heated and cooled cupholders as well as soft-close automatic doors, remote engine starter, gesture control support, rear electric side windows shades, and remote engine start. BMW offers the Executive Package ($2,100), which includes adaptive LED headlights with Laser Tech, a panoramic roof with LED lighting and fancy, hand-made, diamond-cut glass trim pieces for the transmission lever, iDrive controller stop/start button and volume control.
Add all of these together and you get the most expensive 2017 BMW X7 at $122,425, plus fees and taxes. The Alpina B7 is $139,350 and the M760i starts at $156,700. The i8 Roadster is the most expensive, starting at $163,300, or $15,800 less than the coupe.
