It may be larger than the previous model.
The next-generation BMW X3 was captured by our spy photographers earlier this month. However, the automaker kept its design secret with camouflaged and cladding. Kolesa.ru has released new renderings that remove those covers in order to show off the crossover’s redesign styling.
Unofficial renderings reveal a familiar-looking crossover with distinctive design changes. The test vehicle was covered in camouflage and cladding to conceal its new design, but it didn’t appear that BMW had made any significant changes to the crossover’s current design. It appears to be an evolutionary design change that updates the crossover’s front and rear fascias, as well as other styling changes.
The renderings show a new grille, flanked with slimmer headlights and a new hood. The front bumper has been reshaped to look a lot more aggressive that the current one. A new rear bumper is installed, as well as slimmer taillights.
The crossover’s dimensions are not shown in the renderings. It appeared that the new X3 might be larger than the current model, according to spy photos. However, we will need to measure it with a tape. The interior remains a mystery. Our spy photographers were unable to capture it. However, we expect BMW will install its latest iDrive 8 infotainment software and its dash-spanning display, similar to the one in the new iX.
We don’t think it’s too soon to find out about the powertrains. BMW is unlikely to unveil the new X3 before next year. BMW will likely offer a variety of gasoline, diesel, and electrified engines, including the all electric iX3. BMW will likely offer an M40i trim, as spy photos revealed that the crossover had quad exhaust tips sticking out the back.
BMW updated X3 for 2022 model year. We don’t think a debut for next-gen model will be around the corner. BMW may push the unveiling into 2024, even though it could take over a year. The new X3 might not be available in US showrooms until 2025.
