The German pickup does not require electrification.

Update:

Volkswagen has set out to electrify its entire range. However, the Amarok pickup is one of the few models that will not embrace electrification. When it comes to the market, the truck next generation will continue using traditional internal combustion engines that run on gasoline or diesel.

Ralf Branstatter (VW’s chief operating officer) revealed the information to CarSales, who also confirmed that no hybridization was planned for the Amarok. He stated that at the moment, the Amarok type of car is not being electrified. However, he did not go into detail.

The Amarok could share its platform with many technologies with the next generation Ford Ranger. Depending on the market, it may get range-topping V6 Diesel or gasoline engines. The Amarok V6 TDI is 255 horsepower with 428 pound-feet (580 Nm) of torque. tuners such as ABT can increase the output up to 302 hp (265 kW) or 465 lb (630 Nm). CarSales reports that the Ranger could be equipped with a 2.7-liter twin turbo gasoline engine and a 3.0-liter V6 Diesel diesel engine. These engines might also work well under the hoods of the Amarok.

It will be interesting for us to see if the Ranger, which is almost identical in many aspects to the Amarok, will also be powered solely by fossil fuels. The pickup market in Europe is still dominated in diesel-powered models while the United States has more gas-fed trucks.

Ford and Volkswagen could collaborate to help the German manufacturer export its new Amarok to North America. Although there is no immediate decision, VW is still evaluating the prospects. The potential green light for the new Amarok depends on its final product, which must be suitable for worldwide sales.
