Production will begin by the end the third quarter.
The development of the new Golf has not been easy with all the software bugs. But Volkswagen is starting to see the light at end of the tunnel. The production-ready I.D. was originally scheduled to debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. The official unveiling of the highly-recommended compact model, electric hatchback has been delayed by approximately a month.
Officially Unveiled: VW Golf 8
Wolfsburg had previously stated that the Golf VIII would still be released before the end, despite delays. Now, Automotive News Europe has been told by multiple sources that the major debut will take place in October. ANE also confirmed that production of the new golf will begin in the third quarter.
This same report also mentions some of the special features you’ll get with the eighth generation VW’s most popular car. The standard equipment includes LED headlights, lane-keeping assistance, and a fully digital instrument cluster. The infotainment system can be updated over-the-air, which was a feature that caused a lot of problems for the software team at VW during its development phase.
The market launch of the Golf VIII is scheduled for February 2020. As you probably know, Germany will be the first country to receive the Golf VIII. Rumours are circulating about the less practical Variant being scrapped, which would also mean the end of the rugged Alltrack. Nevertheless, wagons remain popular in Europe. It would be a mistake, however, to eliminate the long-roof version. This is merely gossip at the moment. As the third-generation three-door Golf is unlikely to return, one body style will likely continue.
You shouldn’t expect a new e-Golf as it will be replaced by the aforementioned I.D. while the plug-in hybrid GTE can continue to live for another generation. The hotter GTI and all-wheel-drive R are both due to debut in 2020 . A meaner Golf R Plus with close to 400 horsepower is also rumored.
