This Coachman motorhome has been converted into a 4WD adventure vehicle.
This custom build is courtesy of Aux Build on YouTube. This Ford 23-year-old has nearly every feature upgraded, while keeping the original Coachman shell as the living area. The van was completely gutted, and rebuilt with an eye to detail. The van’s front also has new flooring and seat covers. The passenger seat can be flipped to the rear and there is a bench seat that you can purchase from a Ford Transit so four people can ride in safety.
This camper can sleep four people. The overhead bunk can be used by two children, and the custom L-shaped sofa at the back can be converted to a second bedroom. Although the van’s original layout is still intact, new equipment and cabinets have been installed. They include a two-burner, induction stove, large fridge, and tons of storage. The van is equipped with air conditioning, a heater that draws fuel from its tank, and 46 gallons fresh water. It also has a six-gallon hotwater tank. Power comes from a 500ah battery and 300 watts of solar power on the roof. The motorhome’s impressive presence is what really grabs attention. The motorhome boasts a four wheel-drive conversion and all the extras you need, such as a six-inch lift. Up front, a Dana 60 axle is mounted; the rear axle is supported by custom leaf springs and an Air-ride system. The front bumper contains a 12,000-pound winch, while the rear bumper houses a custom reverse camera and a frame hook. The swing arm allows for easy access to the interior. A custom aluminum roof rack is located up top, equipped with tools and emergency ramps for when the overlanding becomes too extreme.
The van’s paint is actually a Raptor Liner coating, which is usually reserved for pickup trucks. The van gets a safari-like look by combining the spray liner with beige. Many additional lights were also added to the van. All lights that are currently in use have been upgraded to LEDs. The manual awning extends from the passenger’s side. There’s an external shower that can be used for rinsing and shore power, as well as water hookups.
This is an impressive upgrade to a small, well-mannered motorhome. It’s claimed to have covered over 15,000 miles without any issues, which is quite impressive considering its appearance.
