But it’s very expensive, like almost-double-the-price-of-a-standard-M3 expensive.
The BMW M3 30-years American Edition was unveiled last year at SEMA. It celebrates three decades of American sports sedans. One car was made, and it was finished in the snazzy Frozen red II Metallic color with M Performance 19-inch front wheels and 20-inch alloy wheels. The car was first introduced in Las Vegas at a cost of $128,635. This is a significant amount considering that a standard starts at $66,500.
It’s up for grabs at a Los Angeles dealer for $130,110. This unique M3 is fitted with all the bells & whistles. The optional Competition Package is included and the six-speed manual gearbox makes it even more special. But what really makes this M3 stand out is the bold and patriotic red, white, and blue theme that runs through the cabin. To try and justify its steep price tag, BMW has also thrown in M stripes on the carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic roof and a 30th Anniversary graphic for the rear sunshade.
There are many M goodies, including a carbon-fiber rear wing, an M Performance exhaust with titanium silencer and adjustable suspension that lowers the ride height by between 5 and 20 millimeters. These shiny wheels are unique to this model, and are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 rubbers.
An M3 may not seem like a good idea, especially when the new starts at $102,600. Maximize the configurator on the M5 and you’ll pay $138 825. This will give us an idea of which M model we would choose.
