This will be the first vehicle in production to feature the brand’s new handsome look.
Many manufacturers used the internet to showcase their new cars after this year’s cancelled Geneva Motor Show. Polestar unveiled its stunning Precept concept online mid-February. It showed off a new design language and added tech, much of which was in safety. We now know when the new, sharp design language will be available on a production model.
Maximilian Missoni is Polestar’s Head Of Design. We learned that the Precept concept will be carried over to the Polestar 3’s design. Missoni explains that the Precept is a manifesto which is used to not only show the entire brand’s design language but also introduce the Polestar 3.
The Polestar 3 will not be a sedan as we knew, but it will be the brand’s first SUV. Missoni confirms this fact in our interview. She says: “[The Polestar 3] will not be [the Precept’s] body style – the Polestar 3 is an aerodynamic SUV. It is clear that it is an idea to prepare people for what is next, which is the 3.
Exterior design elements such as the Precept’s SmartZone front fascia, which is essentially a transparent panel housing two radar sensors and high-definition cameras, should be carried over to the 3 SUV. The Precept’s interior tech, including the split “Thor’s Hammer”, LED headlight housings and rear lights bar, should also translate. The concept has a 15-inch portrait-oriented central display and a 12.5 inch driver display inside. Both run Google’s Android software.
Missoni explains that there are many things you’ll see in future models and that this continues in the interior. “I believe that the most important thing in interior design is the collaboration with Google. Google being the partner for voice recognition and infotainment, we take that collaboration up a notch.”
Keep this in mind when you look for the next Polestar 3. In 2021, the electric SUV will debut.
