The Pope’s Heavenly Huracan Was Sold At Auction For $861,575

All proceeds go to charity

This weekend’s auction will feature a one-of-a kind Lamborghini. But don’t expect a high-powered special edition or one-off. The white-and-gold Huracan has been personally signed by His Holiness Pope Francis and is expected to fetch between 250,000 and 350,000 dollars ($300,000 to $415,000 when it crosses the block.

The vehicle is the centerpiece of this weekend’s RM Sotheby’s Monaco Sale. It was given to Pope Francis in November and customized by Lambo’s Ad Personam to refer to the Vatican City flag. The vehicle’s body is finished with a Bianco Monocerus White paint job and Giallo Tiberino yellow stripes around the windows.

The exterior is stunning but the factory powertrain still remains. This should not be a problem for the new buyer. A V10 engine powers the rear-wheel-drive Huracan, generating 573 horsepower and 398 pounds-feet. It can sprint up to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.4 seconds and then accelerate to a top speed at 198 mph (325 km/h). All this with the blessing of the Pope.

The proceeds of the sale will be donated to charity in full. A number of organizations will benefit from the sale of the vehicle. 70 percent of the proceeds will be allocated to Nineveh, Iraq, which is under attack and besieged daily by ISIS. Another 10 percent to ‘Amici per il Centrafrica Onlus’ and another 10 percent to Groupe International Chirurgiens Amis de la Main, while the last 10-percent will go to the Pope John XXIII community association.

Bidders will be able to view the RM Sotheby’s Monaco sale on May 12. If you are interested in this handsome, holy Lambo, start bidding.
