Dec 11, 2021, 10:10 ET 4 By: Jacob Oliva This article is worth a listen It has taken a while to get the Alfa Romeo Tonale. The sub-Stelvio crossover was delayed twice due to performance improvements and the global chips shortage woes. It is now scheduled to debut in the first quarter 2022. However, this didn’t stop leakages. A Polish magazine Spider’s Web Autoblog has revealed several details about the Tonale even before it reaches the public. According to the website, these specs were taken from an internal presentation.

Take the following numbers with a pinch of salt to be safe. Nothing is confirmed at this time. This leak contains important information including the power output for the PHEV powertrain. This will be used to motivate the top-spec model. The Alfa Romeo Tonale’s wheelbase will be 2,636 millimeters (103.8 inches) in size, which is consistent with its relationship to the Jeep Compass platform. Tonale will measure 4,528mm (178.3in) in length, 1,835mm (72.2in) wide without exterior mirrors, 1 604mm (63.1in) high. The Stelvio is larger at 4,687 mm (184.5in) long, 1,903mm (74.9in) wide and 1,648mm (64.9in) high. It measures 2,818mm (110.9in) in length.

The most dangerous part of the leak is the Tonale range’s powertrain options. A 1.6-liter diesel engine will produce 130 horsepower (97kW) Turbocharged gasoline variants will be available. The inline-4 produces 130 horsepower (119 kW) and the inline-4 160 horsepower (119 kW). The latter will be equipped with MHEV technology. The top-spec model will be equipped with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. It will produce 240 horsepower (179) and have an all-wheel drivetrain thanks to the electric motor mounted on its rear axle. These numbers and configuration are similar to the Jeep Compass 4xe. However, we should note that the PHEV versions will not necessarily be the same as the bones .The Tonale’s EV range is still to be determined. It should be able to travel 30 miles (49 km) faster than the Compass 4xe. This will make it competitive in its class. It should have an EV range of at least 50 miles (80 km).
