Although the future may not be set in stone, it’s never a bad idea to have a look.

“What will business aviation look in the next 50-years?” Embraer asked that exact question to celebrate its 50th anniversary in business. Embraer, a Brazilian company, makes military, executive, commercial, and agricultural aircraft. Although it also offers aeronautical services today, Embraer was founded in 1960 with the “dream to fly” concept.

The company grew quickly, even though it was working with BMW In the past, the interior design of the aircraft was done in collaboration with Boeing.

What will Embraer look like in 50 years? Engineers and designers from Embraer took on this task and created the Pulse concept. Although it is a futuristic approach to business travel, it is not impossible.

The video above shows how Pulse eVTOL Concept imagines future travel as an entirely autonomous affair. It is similar to an autonomous RV or motorhome that has lots of living space. The passengers choose their destination. They will then be taken to the airport by the self-driving vehicle. However, instead of passengers getting off the vehicle, the entire cabin will transfer onto an aircraft that will continue their journey through aerospace.

The process reverses once you land. Your cabin will now be stuffed into an electric vehicle platform that is waiting to finish the journey.

As with other automotive concepts the Pulse Concept isn’t just a fiction that will fade away in the years ahead. Although it may never make it into production, don’t be surprised if it does. However, it’s worth looking at what 50 years might bring, at least for Embraer. It’s not a bad idea to look into the future.
