France is the only country where deliveries will not begin until September 2021, at least.
France finally has a new flagship sedan. With a stylish design and tons more technologies, the DS 9 was launched in February. Now it is available for sale on most European markets. France’s most luxurious luxury is not cheap.
The DS 9 Performance Lince starts at EUR47,700 in its home market. This is approximately $57,075 at current exchange rates. The base model has a plug-in hybrid engine that produces 225 horsepower (168 kilowatts). You can upgrade to the Rivoli grade for at least EUR517,000 ($61,862).
The most expensive PHEV powertrain is the one that’s more powerful. The E-Tense is a PHEV powertrain that has 360 horsepower (268 kW) and transfers to all four wheels via an eight-speed auto. You can get one for as low as EUR65,500 ($78.375), while the Rivoli E-Tense is priced at EUR68.400 ($81.845).
The BMW 5 Series – a comparable sedan to the DS 9 in terms of its dimensions – starts at EUR50,300 (60,187). The non-M most expensive model is priced at EUR65,250 (78,075). It’s a 3.0-liter six cylinder diesel with all-wheel-drive and an eight-speed auto. The 530e xDrive plug in hybrid starts at EUR63,000.
These prices do not include any options. DS claims that the DS 9 could cost as much as EUR80,000 if all of the options are loaded. This is roughly $95,724 at current exchange rates. It’s very similar to the 7 Series.
Five exterior colors will be available on the DS 9 at launch. September 2021 will be the first day of customer deliveries, 18 months after the sedan’s debut online.
