The beautiful design is complemented by four electric motors and an 80-kilowatt hour battery.
The Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 concept was unveiled during Monterey Car Week. It draws clear inspiration from sleek exterior designs of the 1930s like those on Bugattis and Talbot-Lagos. This classic design should blend in well with the many classic cars on hand for Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
The Vision 6 is best viewed in profile. Here you can see its flowing lines and the coupe’s enormous size. The curvy body is accented by chrome strips. Mercedes’ past is also reflected in the gullwing doors. The front ends are dominated by a massive chrome grille and vertical slats. A narrow line of LEDs runs along each side. The tail is sculpted into a complex curve by the designers, with two tiny windows split at the rear and a small fin in between.
We’d love to see the Vision 6 in darker colors. Its enormous footprint makes it look very impressive. The vehicle measures 222 inches (5.6 m) in length and is approximately an inch longer than the Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupe. Because the Maybach is only 52.3 inches (1.328 millimeters tall), it appears even larger. A Phantom Coupe is 62.9 inches tall (1,598mm).
Maybach’s designers used the same proportions, with a long nose in 2004 and a rear-biased cabin. They trade the sharper edges of the older coupe for smoother curves in this new concept.
Maybach’s interior is a departure from the exterior’s traditional inspiration and embraces something more futuristic. Although technically the Vision 6 is a 2+2, the Vision 6’s front occupants have it the best. The Vision 6’s occupants are seated in deep-sculpted seats that allow them to look out through an augmented realities windshield. Rose gold trim and elm floors are also top-of-the-line materials.
Maybach’s vision is shown in the powertrain of the concept. The Vision 6 has four electric motors, generating 738 horsepower (550 megawatts) total. The all-wheel-drive powertrain can propel the coupe to speeds of 62 mph (100 km/h) in just four seconds. A battery of 80 kilowatts per hour under the floor could provide more than 200 miles (322 km) in the Environmental Protection Agency test, or over 500 kilometers (311 mi) with the New European Driving Cycle evaluation.
