It’s a hot rod to the water.

Although watercraft and automobiles are not often in close proximity, they can produce some impressive results. An automaker will often place its logo on a luxury yacht, which is the type you would expect to see in Monaco. Strand Craft’s latest creation is no exception.

Jalopnik discovered – re-discovered? The Strand Craft Wet Rod is a sleek-looking, jet ski that was discovered by Motor1.com thanks to an emailed press statement. It’s a hot rod that can be used in the water. Jalopnik points out that the Wet Rod is a classic design, but it has seen some changes in the past.

Although the name may seem ostentatious and pompous, these renderings reveal a sophisticated, unique and tasteful jet ski. The two-tone paint adds class and one shows wood paneling, which makes this writer think of the Venice boat chase scene in Indiana Jones’ Last Crusade. The details about the jet ski are sparse. Website lists a supercharged, 6.2-liter V8, a touchscreen infotainment system with 15 inches, premium sound, and more. However, there are no engine specifications.

The press release states that Strand intends to have a prototype ready by the end of this year and the production version arrive before the next Miami Boat Show in February 2021. If the current state at auto shows is any indication, it’s possible that the boat show will be cancelled. We don’t know when the prototype will be available, especially considering the Wet Rod’s existence since 2014. It looks great, even though the name is a little unfortunate.
