Theon Design Restores An Air-Cooled Porsche 911 911

Perfection doesn’t come cheap.

The air-cooled 911s are the best for Porsche- philes. They are timeless in design and simplicity, making them popular with automotive enthusiasts as well as marque fans. This brings us to the latest Porsche 911 restoration by Theon Design UK.

This is Theon Design HK002, commissioned by a Hong Kong customer. It’s the second Theon Design HK002 bound for this wealthy country. It is based on the 911-era 911, one of the most iconic air-cooled sports cars in the 1990s.
Adam Hawley of Theon Design created the HK002 after stripping a 964-generation 911 to its metal. The damaged bodyshell was then replaced with a stiffened one. The computer was used to model the 964 body, as well as the 3D data for the vehicle.

Hawley also added significant touches from classic 911s and modern concepts to the HK002, including the long front hood of early 911s, the wide fenders on the 911 S/T, as well as the electrically adjustable exterior mirrors from Porsche’s 991 Speedster concept.

Recaro sport bucket seat will be installed inside. They are finished in semi-aniline leather with a Spinneybeck weave, and a contrasting yellow stripe. The cabin has carbon fiber accents throughout, and the Nardi steering wheels are custom-stitched to match interior details.

Theon Designs offers a variety of engine options, including turbocharged and naturally-aspirated engines. The HK002 is powered with a 3.8-liter turbocharged mill that produces 371 horsepower and 300 pound-feet torque. These numbers are transmitted to the rear wheels via the rebuilt G50 six speed manual gearbox, which was added to the 993.

This delicious restoration is not cheap. According to Theon Design, this example is priced at PS300,000. That’s approximately $415,000 at current exchange rates. This perfection will take 18 months.
