It is one of approximately 500 known to exist.
The Mitsubishi Galant VR-4 is the all-wheel-drive version of the Japanese sedan. It was the predecessor to the legendary Lancer Evolution. This sixth-generation Galant is not known by many people. Although it looks like an all-wheel-drive VR-4, this car actually only turns the front wheels and sports an AMG badge.
It’s the same company that converts various Mercedes-Benz cars into land-based cruise missiles. Although AMG is well-known for its work with Mercedes-Benz, it wasn’t until 1999 that AMG was officially made a Mercedes-exclusive firm. As such, occasionally oddities like this AMG-tuned Mitsubishi can be seen on the streets.
The video shows that only 500 AMG galants were produced, with all of them being exclusive to Japan. The engine was the main focus of the upgrades. A few new components and a tune allowed the 4G63 2.0-liter four pot to spin at 8,000 rpm. This gave it 170 horsepower. The upgrades were a significant improvement on the standard Galant engine, even though they did not match the 200 horsepower of the boosted VR-4. The five-speed manual transmission was used for shifting.
The video shows that AMG also added badges and wood trim to the interior. It was then sold at an auction in Japan, with the final destination being the United States.
We believe it is unmodified and completely original. This means that someone will soon get a rare, cool ride. This Mitsubishi would be a great choice for any occasion, even if it had an AMG story.
