The mini Batmobile hopes to break the overall speed record at Goodwood Festival of Speed.
McMurtry Automotive, a British electric vehicle brand, will be returning to Goodwood Festival of Speed in its adorable fan car. McMurtry Speirling’s Goodwood debut was in 2021, but it will be back this year to attempt the famous hill climb and set a new record.
McMurtry Speirling, a single-seat, pure electric track car is faster than the Bugatti CHiron. McMurtry Automotive claims a sprint time of 0-60 mph (97 km/h) of less than 1.5 seconds and a maximum speed of 150 mph (241 km/h).
McMurtry Automotive did not disclose the output figures for the Speirling. However, it was mentioned that the EV has an output ratio of 1,000 horsepower/tonne and a weight of less than 2,205 pounds (1,050 kg).
The Speirling is distinguished by its twin fans, which pull air from underneath the car. This system boosts the Speirling’s instant downforce-on demand that is even twice its weight at 4,409 lbs (2,009 kg). The Speirling is faster than an F1 car, at 150 mph.
McMurtry Automotive, which is headed by Max Chilton, an ex-F1 driver, aims to break the Goodwood Festival of Speed’s overall record.
The Volkswagen I.D. is currently the hill climb record holder. R, set a time of 39.9 seconds which beats its previous record.
“Our goal is to win the event, and we believe that the record is possible if all goes according to plan. This is motorsport, and you cannot take anything for granted. However, we have a very competitive package. Thomas Yates, McMurtry Automotive’s managing director, stated that the last time a fan car participated in motorsport was 1978 when Niki Lauda won the Swedish Formula One Grand Prix.
