This is insane.
Although not everyone will admit it all, it is clear that superyachts represent one of the most common signs of wealth. Imagine the Monaco harbor during F1 Grand Prix weekend. Everyone has their boat right next to the circuit. This is a costly way to show off your skills, but imagine if your yacht could just crawl onto the beach and release a car so you are ready when you return.
A recent article by RobbReport This concept does just that. This monstrosity, called the Pagurus (which translates to crab in Latin), was created by the Italian masterminds. Lazzarini Design . You can see that the studio has many previous projects.
You might have already guessed that the catamaran form factor is the main focal point of this 82-foot beast. If you flip the boat upside down, you will find 21-foot-long spiral cylinders that extend from the underside of the hulls. These cylinders are used to propel the craft onto land. Each one is powered by a diesel engine of 440 horsepower (328.1 kilowatts), but you’ll be able get quite far. The captain can deploy a Tesla Cybertruck under the negative space.
Lazzarini initially wanted to use the catamaran to carry out military purposes, but he changed his mind after seeing an increase in luxury yacht buyers who want to experience adventure on land and sea.
After exploring the Cybertruck with their passengers, they can drive the vehicle back to the platform and then climb on the Pagurus. The boat also has another useful feature: it can charge Tesla while in transit, thanks to the huge banks of solar panels that are on the decks. It can also extract energy from the under-hull screw cylinders.
Lazzarini envisions that the craft will be powered by two 900 horsepower (671.1kW) Caterpillar diesel engines. This pair can propel it anywhere in the world at speeds of 25 knots (28.7mph). Although we don’t know when or if this idea will be realized, it is likely to earn the Overlanding badge.
