Reader Tobias Buttner sent us some renders of his vision for the next generation Audi A5 Sportback.
The next A5 Sportback is likely to look like the camouflage. We will have to wait to see if it is real. Audi confirmed that the A4-based Sportback will debut in 2016. Sales are expected to begin by 2017MY. After taking a look at the new Audi A4 Sedan, you don’t need to be a big fan of the four-ring logo in order to see what it will look like.
It will be slightly larger than the current model, and Audi’s designers will increase the sharpness level one notch to allow for a more angular exterior like the latest crop of models from Ingolstadt.
While those who love the evolution of design will appreciate the subtle body changes, many will not like the lack of differentiation between models. Marc Lichte, who is now in charge of Audi’s design, has promised that all new models, starting with the next A8, will have a more diverse design. The design language of the previous A5 has been used since it was almost complete before Lichte’s arrival.
It will be revealed next year by Audi, who will also unveil the A5 coupe. The two models will be joined in 2017 with the open-top model.
