The top speed is claimed to be 185 mph.
The electrification and modernization of our automobile future is rapidly approaching. While some might not like it, EVs will be here to stay. What about the cars of yesteryear? What if you want something classic but with modern technology underneath the hood? This custom 1976 Ferrari 308 GTS is my present to you.
This isn’t your classic Ferrari. The V8 is gone. It is replaced by an entirely electric powertrain consisting of three HPEVS AC51 motors. The 47-kilowatt hour battery is housed in carbon fiber and aluminum boxes. Nevertheless, a five-speed manual transmission is still available. The top speed is claimed at 185 miles per hour. This Ferrari isn’t being slowed down by the electric motors.
This red Ferrari needs more than an electric conversion. Completely rebuilt the suspension using QA1 coilovers. Additional parts included Giro-disc racing brakes and LED lighting. The interior was completely redone using black Italian leather and an eclectic speedometer/tachometer.
This 1976 Ferrari 308 GTS looks great for all the work it has done, both inside and outside. It looks like this project was carefully completed. While electrification will displease a lot of Ferrari enthusiasts, some EV enthusiasts might be attracted to the electric powertrain.
The 1976 Ferrari 308 GTS will be up for auction at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale, Ariz. There is no reserve so you could get this Ferrari electric 308 GTS for a bargain price. It is being sold with a salvage title, so it may not sell. The Ferrari LaFerrari is also electrified, so perhaps the tides are turning.
