Fueling your social distancing YouTube frenzy.
The Coronavirus pandemic has put the world on hold, and spare time is increasing. This is the time that many people use to read, watch TV, exercise or express their creative side. The Woodworking ArtYouTube channel was making amazing lumber items before the pandemic. However, they have taken on an automotive flair.
This latest video shows them carving a semi-operational 2020 Toyota Land Cruiser. Surprisingly, the process is very similar to real vehicle construction. The subframe is assembled from the strongest pieces of wood. After the subframe is completed, elaborate details are added to each other.
The front fascia is the first piece of woodwork to be carved. The bravado displayed by the craftsman with his many woodworking tools is amazing. While some of the finer details can be done by hand, more complex work can be done with a router. The car’s front fascia slowly develops as a Land Cruiser, and less as an amalgamation of wooden pieces.
The rear of the car is just as impressive to look at being built. You might not expect to see such details on a woodworking project. Although the model in the video does not have door locks, it can be opened or closed. The wheels can also move freely and the front suspension components made of wood are even more impressive.
The craftsman switches to another Land Cruiser feature just as you think the project is nearly complete. The artist is meticulous in his attention to detail and even hand-carves tire treads. The final touches such as mirrors and reflectors have been completed, and the Land Cruiser is stunning in all its realness.
