Don’t be alarmed, there’s good reason.

We all know Cadillac vehicles are GM’s luxury line. The General offers the most advanced features and styling, making these American cars stand out. The 2021 Cadillac Escalade is a great example of the amazing things that the brand has to offer.

Steelies are the only thing that the Escalade could come with. These photos by Justin Quinn Jacobson show that an Escalade may come with this basic set at some point during its lifetime.
Steel wheels are reserved for fleet and base vehicles. They are heavy and not very attractive. A set of steel wheels isn’t a luxury item, even if it’s on a Cadillac. These aren’t optional, but we did not know about them.

Jacobson claims that Escalades with 22-inch wheels are shipped with steelies because they are too large to fit in a truck. The Drive received an explanation from Jacobson that said the tires and expensive wheels are shipped separately to the dealers. The wheels are then exchanged by the dealer, and the steelies are sent back to GM.

The Escalade is not the only vehicle that has a different set. This Cadillac CT5 looks like a generic Lego car, with its red alloy rims.

Jacobson claims that the CT5’s high variants come with these wheels to protect it from damage during transit.
