All of this leaves us with a bad taste in the mouth.
All of automotive society is talking about what are believed to be 11 very rare cars theses days. These are the 11 brand-new BMW 5 Series models from the model family E34, which were found in an old warehouse in Blagoevgrad. These cars have been on the Internet for about 10 days now, but it turns out that they aren’t very special.
Initial thoughts were that they would eventually be sold and that everyone would ask about the expected price. According to the founder of The, however, they will eventually be auctioned. BMW Fans Bulgaria Page on Facebook Milen Milanov claims that the vehicles have never been up for auction and will never be. However, he says he knows “the truth” about German premium machines.
The truth behind these never-driven vehicles is very different from what we knew a week ago. Milanov claims that in 1994, a Spanish dealer went bankrupt and a Bulgarian investor bought 186 brand-new 5 Series at what was described as “a very fair price.” The VAT “automatically increased the vehicle’s price by 20%, and the “super deal” immediately disappeared.”
“Over all those years, around 175 cars were sold up until 2016, when a group devoted to the hobby found the remaining 11 cars at a storage facility in southwest Bulgaria. Our source claims that the vehicles lack proper documentation, duty, VAT, etc. and cannot therefore be registered as new due to new legal regulations.
These cars are not in the best of health. Due to damage by limestone and rust, they are in dire need of a complete re-paint. Additionally, “a lot of equipment and parts are missing from some cars because they may have been used as part donors.”
