It is quite different to the configurator that plebians have access to.
The current-generation Ford GT will be owned by few people. The production run will end in 2022 with 1,350 cars, but the Heritage Edition is only part of the total. Manny Khoshbin, a California supercar expert, is receiving one. He recently shared his GT configurator experience on YouTube. This is significant because Ford’s configurator is different for GT buyers than the configurator that is available to the general.
The video takes us into the exclusive world of Actual Online Ford GT ordering. The private configurator layout is identical to the public-facing version. A menu on the left allows you to choose different trims and options. There are very few options available as this is only for the Heritage Edition. Khoshbin explains in the video why you would want to modify things on a limited edition model. He is faced with a dilemma when choosing between different wheel styles. These dilemmas should be common to all of us.
The main difference between the configurators and the private sites is that the private site provides a wider range of stunning interior and exterior views, as well as a manually-controlled 360 degree camera. Although it’s not the easiest to use, we can still see the Heritage Edition’s red-and-black Alcantara-trimmed greenhouse. Animations are available to adjust the rear wings and open the doors. A cinematic camera option can also fly around the interior and exterior. This is certainly not something that you’ll find in the public-facing configurator.
The Heritage Edition 2021 is dedicated to Ken Miles, a racing driver who won the 1966 GT40 Mk II race at Le Mans. The livery is not from Le Mans but was taken from the 1966 Daytona 24 Hours event, which Miles and Lloyd Ruby won. Ford has not yet stated how many of these special models Ford will produce, but GT production is scheduled to cease after 2022.
