All was fine, but it was likely that some new underwear was needed.
Here’s a reminder that summer is ending and you need to slow down and enjoy your journey. This is especially true if you are towing a large travel trailer. Although everyone in the clip is reported to be okay, you should know that the friendly videographer who stopped by to help did respond with strong language. We are fully aware of the situation.
The YouTuber Ramathorn1985 uploaded the video. He was driving eastbound on Interstate 82, Washington State, when a black Ford Excursion appeared in the left lane and passed the rig. Although the speed of the Excursion is not known, the semi’s dashcam shows that it was traveling at 65 miles an hour. The SUV was moving at a fast pace. It was simply too fast, as the trailer is in such bad shape that it can’t even pass the semi. The situation is so dire that the semi driver takes evasive measures to avoid being slapped.
After passing the semi, the Fordnoticeably slows. But it’s too late. The trailer is eventually thrown off the ground by the oscillations. This causes truck and trailer to flip sideways, and then it rolls onto its back. We believe it ends on its side. The crash creates a huge dust cloud, which obscures the road for a few seconds.
What caused this trailer to go so wildly out of control? First, it’s quite a big trailer that can make a Ford Excursion appear so small. This trailer is susceptible to wind gusts even if they are only minor ones. A trailer with a tail-heavy roof will whip like a train, and it’ll also have a lot of gear strapped to its back, not to mention what’s behind the axles. It could have been a combination of both. The extra speed was the catalyst for disaster.
With a long weekend ahead of us, here is a tip from motor1. You can take it easy pulling the trailer, no matter if it’s a boat or a camper or a flatbed with furniture for the new semester. Although you may take a while to reach your destination, it will be worth it.
