Even without the camper van, the Beetle truck concept looks amazing.
The Volkswagen Beetle is a classic car. It’s a curvy and cute car with deep automotive history. An truck conversion will not likely reach the table. A camper is more likely to be accepted.
Steve Goodfellow is a master at this. Modern Rides When he began his Beetle project, he thought back to this. Goodfellow started with a 2000 New Beetle GLX 1.8 turbo as his base. He fell in love the idea of a Beetle pickup, and while creating one, he thought of adding a portable camper to it in the shape of a raised tent.
The final product is excellent as you can see from the above images. The entire package is compact, making it a great alternative for people who don’t need a huge motorhome to keep in their garage.
It is made from square aluminum stock and can easily be assembled in five minutes. The tent can be folded up for storage and transport, which is really cool judging by the photos. Two people can sleep comfortably in the raised tent, or three if you have small children.
Goodfellow mentioned that the camper at its back had a 12V power outlet, a separate USB charger and an LED light strip to read at night. These electricals can be connected to the marine-grade outlets at the wall of your bed.
Goodfellow and his Modern Classic Rides won’t be the last Beetle pickup truck camper. One of the new models will have a 2-inch lift, larger tires and a turbo diesel engine. It also has more amenities such as a portable toilet, power generator, stove, and small refrigerator. The development of a full-electric Beetle pickup truck is also underway.
Goodfellow stated that they will release a teardrop camper in 2021 for those who need more space.
