Thor unveils an electric camper van concept with a 300-mile range

Would you consider buying an electric camper?

Is your next camper van going to be an electric vehicle? Thor industries believe so, and their new all-electric campervan could be the future of electric travel. The Thor Vision Vehicle is an electric camper van that can take you and your family camping without using any fossil fuels. Is this EV concept able to compete with its gas-powered counterparts?

Similar to the car and truck markets, camper vans are moving towards electric power. Winnebago recently unveiled their electric RV concept and Airstream just revealed their eStream electric trailer during the Tampa RV Show. Airstream’s parent company Thor Industries is also a subsidiary of Airstream, further demonstrating the brand’s dedication to electric vehicles. The new Thor Vision Vehicle could be the best electric vehicle in its class, based on the information we have so far.

While the Thor Vision vehicle is still in concept, we know many of the key specs for the production version. Thor promises a range of 300 miles that is better than the Winnebago EV-RV’s 125 mile range. Thor Vision Concept embraces digital technology with screens replacing every major function. This includes a virtual cockpit and digital entertainment experience. It also has an advanced power management system that allows owners to monitor the vehicle’s battery life.

While the Winnebago RV EV looks more like a traditional RV, the Thor Vision Vehicle transforms the RV experience. It will be fascinating to see how this new category of vehicles develops. Buyers can expect to have more range and capabilities as battery technology improves.
