The current GTR (R35), has been in production for approximately 11 years, but there is no indication of a new-generation model. Although Nissan has spoken of the R36 occasionally, there isn’t a single spy photo. This suggests that an official reveal may be a few years away. Nissan has been releasing special editions to keep Godzilla’s current form competitive and fresh. The most expensive is the GT-50 designed by Italdesign, which sells for over $1 million per piece.

Nissan has introduced a limited-run GT-R for the Japanese market to commemorate the partnership between the company’s Japanese Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka. Nissan’s 21-year old tennis player was instrumental in the creation of the luxurious finish for the supercar. Customers will have the option to choose from three different paint finishes: Brilliant White Pearl (Meteor Flake Black Pearl), and Midnight Opal (Midnight Opal).

Nissan has given the GT-R a special paint job, as well as a dry carbon rear spoiler. Also, a golden plate is placed in the engine bay. To complete the appearance of this high-performance machine, there are LED top rear lights as well as unique interior schemes that reflect the chosen exterior color.

Nissan will not assemble more than 50 cars for the model and will reveal pricing details next month. All models will be built on the Premium edition grade, which will clearly command a premium over regular cars.

Nissan hasn’t forgotten its predecessors, except for updating the GT-R. NISMO Heritage Parts introduced many components for the R32 last yea, and it recently launched parts for the R33 and R34 Skyline models .
