That’s probably not the best advice.
Vicky Nguyen, NBC’s Today reporter, mistakenly used an electrical vehicle to show how to save gasoline during a report.
The piece she wrote was about how to save money at gas pumps, which is timely considering record-breaking gas prices. Nguyen is seen in a Ford Mustang, and presses the start/stop button. Next, she pulls out packages from the Mach-E’s rear cargo area and advises viewers to reduce excess weight to improve fuel efficiency.
Nguyen is not to blame, but it’s equally likely that she knew that the vehicle she was using was an electric vehicle. It could be her car, which is the only vehicle that she has quick access to. It’s hard to know, but you can’t make water out of a rock and you can’t save gas by turning your EV off.
This whole thing reminds of David E. Davis, legendary automotive journalist and editor.
Daily press should limit its ramblings to the timeless issues like skin problems, erectile dysfunction, world peace, and skin blemishes. Although they have my permission, when they begin to talk about automobiles, they quickly go beyond their capabilities. – David E. Davis
