Tom Cruise is Top Gun for Thrilling Videos With Porsche 911 GT3s

The Hollywood star went to Silverstone to take part in a dogfight alongside Mark Webber, David Coulthard.

Formula 1 fans may have noticed that Hollywood star Tom Cruise was at the Silverstone race this weekend. Actor Tom Cruise, 59, was happy to see Lewis Hamilton win the British Grand Prix by passing Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc. He flew to the UK to film a promotional video for Channel 4, and not only for the race.

Tom Cruise challenges former F1 drivers in a dogfight, while Top Gun’s “Danger Zone”, by Kenny Loggins, plays in the background. Tom Cruise calls Channel 4 F1’s host Steve Jones “Iceman” to emphasize the point. This is a reference to Tom Kazansky, played by Val Kilmer in 1986 Blockbuster movie.

This video can only get better if it features an exciting car. The Porsche 911 GT3 definitely fits the bill. The legendary British race track is also included, making for an exciting video. Top Gun references include “I am Dangerous,” “There are no points for second Place,” and my personal favorite “I feel the desire for speed.”

Fake machine gun sounds after using the shift paddle sound hilarious. The crew plays around Silverstone with Porsche’s track-focused, naturally aspirated machine and then they start singing Johnny Rivers’ “You’ve lost that lovein’ feeling” as another Top Gun reference.

This promo video was produced by Channel 4 in preparation for the British GP. We think it shows Channel 4’s commitment to the project.
