Tomorrow’s official unveiling of 2017 Opel Insignia

Online debut before global premiere in Geneva next year.

Yesterday’s completely revealing spy photos of Opel Insignia 2nd generation continues to echo. Today, we can announce that the official online debut of the car will take place tomorrow, December 7. According to a reliable source, the vehicle was taken during an ad shoot in Los Angeles. We will see the official photos tomorrow.

It’s unclear at this time if the sedan and station wagon will be shown simultaneously, but it is likely that the more practical body style will arrive early 2017. According to rumours, the Insignia Grand Sport 2017 will make its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March.

Many claimed that the new Insignia’s design is influenced by other models in the segment, such as the Mazda6 and the Chevrolet Malibu. However, it actually draws styling cues form the Monza presentation at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2013.

The all-new Insignia is expected to be on the market by the second half of next year. It will be 2.1 inches (55 mm) longer and have a 3.6 inch (92 mm), longer wheelbase. This will allow for more space for rear passengers. The car, despite its larger size, will weigh up to 385 pounds (175 kg) depending on its configuration.

The new Insignia will indeed be a global competitor for General Motors as it will be available in both North American and Australian versions. It will be available for purchase as the 2018 Buick Regal and as the 2018 Holden Commodore.
