While many of these vehicles are no longer for sale, their owners still have tickets.
As you drive along the road, you see red and blue lights in your rearview mirror. You see that you are exceeding the speed limit and your stomach starts to drop because you know you will be getting a ticket. This is something every motorist hates.
A study by Insurance examines the statistics and determines which vehicles are most likely to be cited for speeding violations. They found that an average of 11.28 percent have been issued a ticket. There are a variety of vehicles that can be ticketed, from small hatchbacks to large trucks.
The Veloster,
A small hatchback, is available in many specifications. It is available with 147 horsepower (110kilowatts), or 201 hp (135 kW) for the N model. Unfortunately, Insurance doesn’t give us any indications as to which one is speeding.
The Subaru Impreza
It is a fast car with 152 horsepower (113 kW). It isn’t particularly powerful or sporty. However, owners seem to have no problems exceeding the speed limit.
The Infiniti G37,
One of many retired cars. It was introduced for the 2007 model year, and briefly became Q40 before being retired for the 2015 model years. Many of these cars are likely to be in the hands of a second or third owner due to their age. The price of premium sedans is dropping, so younger buyers are more likely to buy them.
Although the Dodge Dart was discontinued with the 2016 model year it made this list. It doesn’t have a lot of power, though, with engines producing 160 hp (112 kW) or 184 hp (135 kW). Based on this study, however, many owners seem to be driving these cars at illegal speeds.
There is a common stereotype that heavy-duty pickup truck drivers are among the most aggressive on the roads, at least in some parts of the country. Insurify‘s research suggests that Ram 2500 drivers might have a greater likelihood of having a leadfoot. This truck is also the only one to achieve this ranking.
This is a surprising entry. The four-door Jeep Wrangler Unlimited does not qualify as a performance vehicle. A V6 with 285 horsepower (213 kW) is the most powerful engine currently available. Although it is not a muscle car, the SUV has enough owners to cause 15.35 percent of those who drive it to be stopped.
The Hyundai Genesis coupe,
Available from the 2010-2016 model years, is a rear-wheel drive performance coupe. It’s available with either turbocharged four-cylinder or naturally aspirated V6 engine options. This vehicle is a great choice if you are looking for low-speed performance. However, these statistics suggest that some owners may be pushing it a bit too hard.
The Volkswagen GTI hot hatch
The most popular. This model is also one of few available in this market segment in America, as American automakers place more emphasis on crossovers. For the 2022 model year the venerable car arrives in America. This gives a new generation a chance to enjoy them at speed.
Insurify states that this entry is for the Scion FRS model, which was not available until the 2016 model year. These vehicles could have been owned by a few people and might have become financially more accessible to less experienced drivers who are more inclined to speed. After the Scion brand was discontinued, the FR-S evolved into the Toyota 86.
The Subaru WRX
The only vehicle in this list where more than a fifth of drivers have been cited for speeding. The WRX is a popular choice for young drivers who may succumb to temptation to drive the all-wheel-drive sedan at speeds that are unacceptable under the law. The 2022 model year will see a new generation.
