After 2022, Toyota will cease selling the model in America.
The Japanese automaker will introduce a new Nightshade Edition model to replace the Toyota Avalon before it disappears from US showrooms. This model will be available for the model year 2022. This is just one of the small changes Toyota made to the sedan prior to ending production at its Kentucky plant. The new model year sees Toyota remove the more expensive Avalon RRD 2022 from the configurator.
The new XSE Hybrid Nightshade Edition model is available in Midnight Black Metallic or Wind Chill Pearl. Black bits are also applied to the sedan, including black mirror caps, black rear spoiler and door handles, as well as a shark fin antenna and name badges. The 19-inch alloy wheels are black-painted. The interior of the Avalon features black perforated SofTex.
Toyota’s power tilt/slide sunroof is standard on the Nightshade Edition. It also comes standard on the Limited, Limited Hybrid and Touring. This option is available on the 2022 XLE Hybrid and XLE Hybrid. Toyota’s eight speaker sound system is available on the Nightshade, including a nine inch touchscreen. Toyota’s Limited and Touring trims come standard with a 1,200-watt premium JBL audio system. It is optional for the rest.
The price of the 2022 Avalon will be slightly higher than the previous model. However, the entry-level XLE trim will increase by $150. Toyota Safety System 2.5+ has been made standard across all models, so the price increase is not a major one. It features automatic high beams and dynamic radar cruise control. Toyota has also standardized its Rear Seat Reminder, which monitors the rear seat for passengers.
Dealers now have the 2022 Toyota Avalon in six configurations. The last Avalon to be sold in the US will be this model, but the car will continue to sell in China.
