According to reports, it will have a 70+ kWh battery pack.

Toyota held a major press conference in December last year where it showed off its future EV plans (see related links below). A total of 15 electric vehicles are currently in development by Toyota and Lexus, including a compact hatchback/crossover. This high-riding prototype transforms into a production vehicle in a new rendering by Motor.es.

The new zero-emissions hatch is currently in development. It looks like a five-door lifted vehicle with crossover-inspired tweaks. It can be described as a mix between the current CHR and Corolla Hatchback, as the EV appears smaller than the Corolla, but larger than the crossover.

The Toyota e-TNGA EV architecture will be used to create the bZ3. It is expected that it will come with one or two electric engines. For a maximum output of 200 horsepower (149 kilowatts), the most powerful version will have a dual motor layout and all-wheel drive. This will make it compete directly with the upcoming Volkswagen ID.3 GTX hot hatch. Motor.es says that the bZ3 could have a 71.4 kWh battery pack, giving it a range of over 310 miles (500 km).

Toyota’s upcoming bZ3 electric vehicle is just one of many. The Japanese automaker also showed a large seven-seater electric SUV. This was an electric Tacoma truck. It is a sports car and an ideological successor of the FJ Cruiser. Lexus teased the RZ at its full presentation recently . It is a four-seater, electric convertible and a swoopy wagon.

Toyota and Lexus plan to launch 30 new electric cars by the end of the decade and invest $70 billion in R&D. Both companies aim to reach full carbon neutrality in the middle of next decade. Lexus aims for a brand that is EV-only by 2030 in Europe and China.
