We have a great look at both sedans but believe there is still much to be learned.
Toyota released a teaser video on social media about its new TRD models. But instead of showing us just a small glimpse of a bumper, or getting a close-up of a fender in detail, the automaker offered the complete monte. This is your first look at Toyota’s TRD-restyled sports-sedan for the Camry, and Avalon.
Be aware that Toyota has not yet provided any details on the TRD upgrades. We’ll probably have to wait for the official debut of both cars at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. Los Angeles Auto Show However, there are still some things that we can figure out on our own. Both cars have a bit more black trim, and both include lip spoilers as well as new rocker panel trim. It is clear that the Camry will get black wheels as part of the TRD modifications. The Camry also receives a new rear fascia and an upgrade to the exhaust. However, we don’t need to rely on what we see. In the video clip below, NASCAR driver Martin Truex Jr. speaks with Rutledge about the TRD tweaks. For a closer look at the details, here are some screengrabs taken from that interview.
The Camry is the Toyota model that Toyota promotes in NASCAR. This video focuses most of the attention on it. The exterior changes give it a more spirited look, but the TRD exhaust is what really piques our curiosity. The video clearly shows it. We hope Toyota will do more than just add wings to the interior and red stitching. There are rumors about suspension upgrades, but it wouldn’t hurt to have a little more power from the V6’s 301-horsepower (225 kW) engine in both cars.
We are very excited to see what Toyota has in store for us beyond what we can actually see, given the plebian reputation that these sedans have earned over the years. These questions will be answered at the LA Auto Show in just a few weeks.
