Toyota Racing Development (TRD), has created a number of sporty bits for the new Hilux-based Fortuner SUV.
The Fortuner TRD Sportivo is the new addition to this range. It features a sportier appearance for the front and rear bumpers, as well as a dark chrome finish for its front grille. To contrast the pearl-white body, the roof is matte black. Customers can also get an all-black model.
TRD has designed a new set 20-inch six-spoke wheels in black with Dunlop 265/50 rubber. This is in addition to beefier brakes than the standard Fortuner. The suspension is TRD-tuned with optimized shocks, springs and dampers. However, it’s still a large SUV.
The Fortuner TRD Sportivo has undergone some changes inside. It now features an 11-speaker JBL audio system, faux carbon Kevlar trim and black leather upholstery. TRD badges, sporty dials and red stitching are included on the vehicle. The touchscreen has navigation support and a seven inch screen.
Toyota Thailand will exclusively sell the vehicle with a turbodiesel engine 2.8-liter producing 177 horsepower (130kilowatts), and 332 poundfeet (450newton meters) torque. The standard transmission is a 6-speed automatic to the front axle. Buyers can, however, opt for a 4WD configuration at an additional cost.
It is unknown if these components will be available in other countries, where Toyota sells the Fortuner.
